Playwrights in India — particularly those writing in English — are few and far between. Naren Weiss’ plays have been performed around the world, including at the prestigious Hindu Metroplus Theatre Festival (Asia), National Arts Festival (Africa), Hollywood Fringe Festival (North America) and many others. His pieces have garnered awards as well as gone on to become international bestsellers.
At not even thirty years of age, his work couples brutally human emotion with soaring ethereal intention. Equal parts whimsical and cathartic, painful and refreshing; Weiss’ work has already become a prolific lighthouse for the next generation of playwrights to come.
NAREN WEISS is an award-winning writer and accomplished actor. His work has been published and performed on four continents. He has appeared onstage extensively (Metroplus Theatre Festival, Kennedy Center, Geffen Playhouse, Off-Broadway), and in a number of feature films and television series (submitted for Primetime Emmy Award consideration for The Brave in 2018). He is an adjunct professor of playwriting at City College of New York.
