Description

Krishna Paul tells a delightful story. About the other half. But whose other half is it? Is it her own, or her husband’s? Is this the story of Joginder Paul the well-known Urdu writer or a tale in which she herself is the protagonist? Dip into this amazing journey of loving memories and beautiful vintage photographs.
As friend and partner, first auditor and muse, keeper of all of Joginder Paul’s memories, Krishna Paul shares an extremely interesting narrative. The storyteller in her has remained so well concealed behind the wonderfully witty lady that she is. Her easy charm and guilelessness, her generosity is so refreshing in today’s world. How beautifully she tells the tales of her life, with no trace of any negativity. It’s all about the past but it’s all in the present. This seamless blend of time, both full of love and wit, makes life seem so worth its while.
Krishna Paul was born in Kenya in 1929. She began teaching at the age of 16 and taught for 16 years in several schools in Nairobi. She married Joginder Paul in July 1948 in Delhi. After completing her post-graduation in 1965-66, she joined SB College, Aurangabad, as a Lecturer. In 1976, she joined the Department of English in Jamia Milia Islamia, New Delhi, as a Lecturer. Proficient in multiple languages like Punjabi, Hindi, English, Urdu and Swahili, she has translated widely, primarily the works of Joginder Paul from Urdu into Hindi and English. She has won the Katha Award for Translation both in Punjabi and Hindi. She was also a regular broadcaster for the Asian section of the Kenya Broadcasting Corporation on a variety of cultural issues. She has always been keenly involved with music, dance, debating and theatre.
