Description
Claus Ankersen’s new collection of poems is a love letter to India, a relationship in constant flux that stretches through time-space, turning present and past into an eternal now, into an ongoing meeting, an eternally blooming flower. Mostly written in 2019, as the poet undertook an almost 5,000 km of train ride from Bhubaneshwar to Kolkata, to Mumbai, to Hyderabad and to Delhi. In this way, the collection is also a travelogue of poems, and an introduction to India as seen through the eyes of a sojourner.
Truly magnificent! Visually, textually – so powerful. I am thrilled for this book to be in the world… — NAOMI SHIHAB NYE
Claus Ankersen has photographic eyes and this insight reflects in his poems written about India. The poems gave me immense pleasure and satisfaction. — PERUMAL MURUGAN
Unique writing and world view… infused with humour. River of Man is a fascinating read. Claus is more Indian than me. — MANAV KAUL
