Description
You will need to hunt for the finger
that has learnt to explore herself
not slender, not manicured, not gloved
maybe one that has stood up
in the face of challenges and denials.
Kamayani’s poetry is extraordinarily vehement on the issue of identity. It attacks any form of abuse to the sacred space of the female body — physical, mental, emotional. There is defiance in her words and a cold, cutting dismissal of perpetrators of exploitation. — Vinita Agrawal
Kamayani’s poems speak through layers of emancipation and wisdom, expanding visions to wider perspectives on feminism and eco-feminism. — Rochelle Potkar
KAMAYANI teaches English at the Government College in Shimla and writes poetry to articulate and complete her engagement with life. Her poems have appeared in several anthologies. Her first collection of poems, The Witch Must Die and Other Poems, published in 2020, was received well.
